Thanks for that. I have used Excel for years and when I had to use Google Sheets at a recent placement, I struggled intensely. My manager claimed they had same functionality. They absolutely don’t. I wasted so much time YouTubing and Googling how to do basic things or where function keys/buttons were. The only thing I appreciated about Google Sheets was the ease of sharig and collaboration and auto-save. I believe the latter is also now available on Excel, but you have to activate it.
Thanks for highlighting the lack of sheet protection on Google Sheets. It was a function I used frequently in my line of work.
I’m still an Excel fan, but here to look for something with better collaboration and sharing option for personal use.

Sure! Thanks. Microsoft has been working on incorporating JavaScript as a scripting language in Excel through a feature called “Custom Functions.” This enables users to create custom functions using JavaScript that can be used in Excel formulas. However, please note that features and updates in software applications can change over time.

That’s a deal breaker for me in Google sheets. Please add this to the comparison.

In the section on Automation you say ‘Excel has been working on its backend, trying to Include JavaScript… as of now, you can test it out in Excel online.’ Can you comment how this is done and what, if any, additional software is needed?

I moved from Excel some years ago and haven’t looked back. Apps Script, despite its limits, has a fresh feel to it and Javascript isn’t so difficult to learn.
